Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, on 23 October 2026, met with State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, H.E. Miyamoto Shuji, in Tokyo, Japan. The two sides exchanged views on the possible upgrade of the ASEAN-Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership (AJCEP) Agreement and discussed ways to deepen ASEAN-Japan cooperation on Artificial Intelligence as well as support for the future implementation of the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA).
