Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain recently revealed that he turned down an invitation to play golf with Donald Trump, citing his strong opposition to the MAGA movement.
Expressing explicit disdain for the Trump administration, McBrain said that the president and his “bunch of cronies” belong behind bars.
Speaking to The Telegraph UK, the Florida-based drummer recalled how a friend “who’s a massive Republican” pitched for a round of golf, “‘Oh, do you want to come and play golf with us? With the president?’” McBrain’s response was, “And I said, ‘You fucking what?’… and I just said, ‘No.’ No mate.”
“I’m not politically inclined, although I must be because I have my thoughts about him. I’m not amused by the narcissism, and all this kerfuffle about the Epstein files and whatnot, and especially the debauched war that he’s put on Iran,” he continued.
McBrain added that Pete Hegseth is “going to be put in prison.” The drummer concluded, “My last word on Trump and his bunch of cronies is, they should be put in jail.”
McBrain’s autobiography, Hello Boys and Girls!, lands in stores on Thursday. Publisher HarperCollins bills the book as a “thrilling, hilarious and deeply personal” account, promising “trademark humour and heart, Nicko takes readers behind the scenes of one of Britain’s biggest ever bands… This is the story of what it feels like to remain not just relevant but more loved than ever after decades at the top, and to live a life transformed by music, brotherhood and belief.”
Earlier this month, the band announced they will embark on the third and final leg of their 50th-anniversary Run for Your Lives tour, running from April through May. The milestone trek will wrap up with back-to-back festival headlining sets at Sonic Temple and Boardwalk Rock.
Iron Maiden was named to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s class of 2026 this past April, with the official induction ceremony scheduled for November 14 at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theatre.
