Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Nigerian newspapers:
1. Some members of the ‘Tinubu Must Go’ movement on Sunday kicked against the blockade of the venue where they were scheduled to hold a meeting. Abba Hikima, a lawyer and one of the conveners of the movement, raised the alarm, alleging that policemen were preventing them from accessing the venue.
2. Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has demanded immediate and full transparency from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, over reported redeployments in key departments and the production, printing and custody of sensitive materials for the 2027 general elections. In a statement issued by his media aide, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku said the reported changes in the Electoral Operations Department raised serious questions that INEC must answer without delay.
3. The Kwankwasiyya Movement has demanded an explanation for the omission of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Kano State governorship candidate, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, and his running mate, Mustapha Rabi’u Kwankwaso, from the final list of candidates published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The movement expressed confidence that the matter could be resolved through available administrative and legal channels.

6. The media office of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has dismissed a viral report claiming that he called on Nigerians to reject the All Progressives Congress, APC, describing the allegation as false and misleading. 7. The Presidency on Sunday dismissed former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar’s proposed production subsidy on petrol as “a dangerous mathematical fantasy wrapped in political deceit”, saying Nigeria does not have the crude oil volumes needed to fund it. 8. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has begun engaging the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to resolve the omission of some of its candidates from the commission’s final list of governorship candidates for the 2027 elections, released on Saturday.
