Kuwait condemned Colombia’s opening of an embassy in occupied Jerusalem, describing the move as a flagrant violation of international law and relevant international legitimacy resolutions.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed Kuwait’s categorical rejection of the step and all practices aimed at altering the existing legal and historical status of occupied Jerusalem.
Kuwait called on the international community and the UN Security Council to assume their responsibilities in confronting any attempts to impose a new reality in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The ministry also reiterated Kuwait’s firm support for the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the establishment of an independent state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
