The Big 12 had to issue an apology after their officiating crew failed to put one second back on the clock at the end of BYU's 28-24 win over Notre Dame.
The Big 12 had another BYU game end in controversy as the No. 2 Cougars lost to UCF 39-31 in double overtime.
In overtime, BYU was penalized for roughing the kicker on a made field goal attempt by UCF's Will Stone. The penalty gave the Knights a first down, and they scored what would be the game-winning touchdown two plays later.
Replay of the penalty appeared to show BYU's Kendal Wall falling into the kicker while he fell to the ground from a block. It didn't appear to reach the standard of roughing the kicker, prompting an outcry on social media.

The game only went to overtime because Stone recovered his own blocked kick on 3rd down, but in the process he lost his helmet, prompting the officials to run 10 seconds off the clock, ending regulation. Some fans thought Stone's helmet appeared to be ripped off by a BYU defender. If that were the case, Stone should have had another opportunity to kick a field goal.
