JAKARTA: Indonesian singer Farel Prayoga has been left upset after a plot of land worth around Rp 400 million (about RM90,665), which includes a building and a swimming pool, was allegedly sold by his biological family without his knowledge.
Detikhot reported yesterday that the 16-year-old was shocked to discover that the asset, bought with his hard-earned money, was gone.
Farel first heard about the sale from his manager and adoptive father, Muhammad Rais.
"At first, I didn't expect it to sell. I couldn't believe my family sold the land. But after further investigation, we managed to obtain the contact information for the buyer," he said.
"We immediately called him to see if we could hear his explanation. The gist of the story is, it was sold."
Rais explained that Farel always tries to see the best in his family, which made it even harder for him to accept what had happened.
"He's not prone to negative thoughts. That's why I gave him the buyer's contact information directly," Rais said.
According to Rais, the family had also previously sold some of Farel's livestock.
Rais' team has now turned to Law Minister Supratman Andi Agtas for help.
"Farel has conveyed the chronology of events and the situation to the ministry. The Minister has already initiated the process," explained Rais.
He added: "The matter is already in the legal process. We hope the land can be returned to Farel as it is the result of his hard work and it is important for his future."
