The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) says it is expanding access to addiction treatment services and employment opportunities for vulnerable people in Afghanistan with support from Japan.
The office announced on Monday, October 19, that a delegation from the Japanese Embassy in Afghanistan, led by Japan’s Ambassador, Masamoto Kenichi, had visited the sites of the office’s projects in Kandahar.
According to the office, the Japanese Embassy in Afghanistan and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) are supporting these projects.
The projects aim to assist vulnerable people, provide access to addiction treatment, and create alternative livelihood opportunities in Afghanistan.
