KUALA LUMPUR: The lively atmosphere at the wedding reception of Bella Astillah and Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman last night turned emotional when Bella's nine-year-old son, Mohamed Ayden Adrean, delivered a touching speech.
Dressed in matching red traditional Malay attire alongside his six-year-old sister, Ara Adreanna, Ayden took to the stage at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) to offer prayers for the newly married couple and thank Syed Saddiq for bringing happiness back into their lives.
Speaking calmly despite the emotion in his voice, Ayden shared his heartfelt thoughts: "I am Ayden, and from the bottom of my heart, I want to say to Daddy that you came into our lives when I was very little, and at times I did not quite understand what was happening. I only saw Mommy being sad. As a son, I now see Mommy smiling again, and with your presence, she laughs a lot and is truly happy."
"Thank you for choosing Mommy and giving us our happiness back," he added.
"Mommy, I love you so much for taking such good care of us. To Daddy, thank you for loving us and Mommy. May Allah bless Mommy and Daddy's marriage. Ara and I love you both very much, Mommy and Daddy."
The grand celebration was attended by around 3,000 guests, including government ministers and prominent national leaders.
Later in the evening, the couple changed out of their traditional red outfits into a sleek black suit and an elegant white gown.
Guests were entertained by performances from National Songbird Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza, Jaclyn Victor, Didi Astillah, and Nidji frontman Muhammad Yusuf Nur Ubay.
Syed Saddiq, 34, and Bella, 32, officially tied the knot in a solemnisation ceremony at Menara Merdeka Maybank on Oct 10.
The couple will host two further Kenduri Rakyat wedding receptions in their respective hometowns of Muar, Johor, on Oct 25 and Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, on Oct 31.
