The Yola Electricity Distribution Company, YEDC, has attributed the reduction in electricity supply across its network to transmission constraints and limited power allocation from the national grid.
In a notice to customers on Tuesday, the company said it was receiving less electricity than usual from the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, and the National Control Centre.
YEDC said the current supply constraint had left it relying on only the Kaduna-Mando transmission line.
It explained that two circuits, identified as 2APR-LFA1 and 2APR-LFA2, were unavailable, limiting the electricity supplied to its network to 75 megawatts.
The company said the shortfall had resulted in fewer hours of electricity for customers across its franchise areas.
It added that the available power had to be distributed equitably among the communities it serves.
YEDC apologised to customers for the inconvenience, saying it was working with the relevant authorities to address the transmission challenges and improve electricity supply.
“Thank you for your understanding and cooperation,” the company said in the notice signed by its management.
