Military tanks and security personnel have been stationed at the Abuja City Gate ahead of the planned mega march by supporters of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Checks by DAILY POST observed security operatives mounting barricades and conducting stop-and-search operations at the City Gate early in the morning.
The presence of the security personnel is believed to be a precautionary measure to prevent a breakdown of law and order during the march.
The security agencies deployed in the area included officers of the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Civilian Joint Task Force, the Department of State Services, DSS, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.
Recall that supporters of Peter Obi and Kwankwaso had announced a joint mega march in the FCT to demand good governance.
At the time of filing this report, the area has been cordoned off with a heavy presence of security personnel and armoured tanks.
