The capital has found its very own Caped Crusader... after a mysterious masked man began handing out cash to strangers while vowing to make Londoners’ problems disappear.
Calling himself “London’s Batman”, the mystery philanthropist is tackling the cost of living, one random act of kindness at a time.
While the real Batman fights crime on the mean streets of Gotham City, London’s own lone ranger is busy paying for motorists’ fuel, handling parking penalty charges for hospital visitors and filling in potholes outside a youth club.

The masked man first appeared on Instagram on September 22, introducing himself to the capital in a video filmed in front of the London Eye.
“London, I am your Batman. For too long, we’ve been left without a hero. I will be the hero London deserves. Tell me your problems and I will make them go away,” he said.
His Instagram account, @officiallondonsbatman, has since attracted almost 100,000 followers, with social media users speculating about the identity of the man behind the mask.
On October 16, London’s Batman visited a petrol station and handed out £70 fuel vouchers to motorists, declaring that it was time someone stepped in to help with rising costs.
“Fuel prices are too high,” he said. “So it’s time that someone brings them down. Free fuel for everyone.”
Motorists estimated he had contributed as much as £3,500 towards other people’s petrol bills so far.
Speaking to ITV News outside the petrol station, he said: “I’m trying to give London hope for a better tomorrow. It’s tough times for people. People need someone to stand up for them. You don’t need to be super to be a hero.”
Petrol pumps might not be the usual stomping ground for a superhero, but the mystery man has also turned his attention to parking charges.
He paid penalty charge notices issued to patients parked near Kingston Hospital in south-west London, arguing that people visiting hospital should not have to worry about fines on top of their health concerns.
“People in the hospital should not have to pay for their parking fines. But seeing as the government doesn’t want that to happen, someone has to step in. That is a crime and Batman will fix it,” he said.

In another act of civic-minded heroism, he filled in potholes outside a youth club, taking his crime-fighting credentials in a rather different direction.
While Londoners are used to seeing superheroes on screen, the idea of one paying for strangers’ petrol has understandably caught the internet’s attention.
Under his latest Instagram video, posted on Sunday, October 25, followers were quick to compare him to Bruce Wayne, Batman’s billionaire alter ego.
“This is incredible. This actually might be Bruce Wayne,” one person commented.
Another wrote: “Bro might actually be a billionaire.”
Others were more interested in the practicalities of his apparent fortune, with one asking: “Did you use the bat-credit card?”
A further comment joked: “We need Batman cos fuel stations Robin us.”
For now, the identity of London’s Batman remains a mystery. Whether he is a wealthy benefactor, a publicity-savvy philanthropist or simply someone determined to make life a little easier for strangers, his growing online following suggests the capital is more than happy to let him continue his good deeds.
And with fuel bills, parking fines and potholes firmly in his sights, London’s newest superhero has certainly found a few everyday villains to tackle.
