Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) —Chinese company Mingyuan Silu has proposed establishing a duty-free shopping complex in Ferghana. The initiative was discussed by Ferghana Region Governor Khayrullo Bozorov and a delegation led by the company’s General Director, Li Binbin.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue cooperation based on a specific project proposal, the regional administration’s press service reported.
Representatives of Mingyuan Silu said the company had taken into account the region’s population, economic potential and consumer market opportunities when developing the initiative.
The company has been implementing investment projects in Uzbekistan since 2013. The meeting also noted that the development of the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and China creates opportunities for new investment initiatives.
According to the participants, establishing a duty-free complex could help develop tourism in the region, attract more international visitors and strengthen Ferghana Region’s international image.
The parties exchanged views on the project’s prospects and agreed to continue working on the initiative.
