The Saudi aviation authority says on X that damage to the airport is being investigated. It is unclear what was used in the attack.
At the same time, the Saudi-backed coalition in Yemen says four drones launched by the Houthi movement were shot down in eastern Saudi Arabia, where Dammam is located.
Airports in Saudi Arabia have also been targeted by the Iran-backed movement in the past. Earlier on Wednesday, Riyadh airport reopened after being closed earlier in October following deadly Houthi attacks.
