Prominent Bangladeshi tourism personality Mohammad Zahirul Islam, widely known as Dalton Zahir, has been appointed as the Asia region ambassador for the International Tourism Film Festival Committee.
Announced from Vienna on October 6, the appointment recognizes his extensive career spanning over 25 years in tourism, hospitality, media, and multinational corporations.
The International Tourism Film Festival Committee, an approved associate member of the United Nations World Tourism Organization established in 1989, connects international tourism and commercial film festivals.
In his new capacity, Zahir will promote high-quality tourism films across Asian countries, boost regional participation in international competitions, and foster closer collaboration among tourism institutions, government agencies, and creative professionals.
Zahir brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously led sales and marketing for the BRAC Hotel Group and held senior positions at prominent hospitality establishments such as the Grand Sultan Tea Resort and Golf, Ocean Paradise, and Lakeshore Hotel.
His professional background also includes major technology and media brands like Motorola, Apple, and Fujifilm, alongside founding multiple tourism initiatives like Travelerkey and Welcome Bangladesh.
Furthermore, Zahir holds leadership positions in several global tourism bodies, including serving as a director of the Bangladesh Tourism Developers Association and as a global ambassador for Skal International's Argentina branch.
Through this appointment, the organization aims to expand its presence across Asia, encouraging filmmakers and regional institutions to showcase tourist centers, services, and cultural heritage on the global stage.
Interested Asian institutions and filmmakers can now connect directly with Zahir or the Vienna-based secretariat to participate in upcoming international awards and collaborative initiatives.
