Manchester United are interested in signing Real Betis striker Troy Parrott as they look to strengthen their attack ahead of the January transfer window.
According to a report from Ficherio, the Red Devils have been closely monitoring the Republic of Ireland international, with scouts sent to Spain to assess his performances in La Liga and European competition.
Troy Parrott could be an ideal attacking addition
The 24-year-old has enjoyed a remarkable rise in recent seasons, establishing himself as a prolific goalscorer at AZ Alkmaar before moving to Real Betis.
Parrott registered 31 goals and 12 assists in 48 appearances last season, showcasing his finishing ability and consistency in the final third. His impressive performances have continued to draw attention since his move to Spain, where he has quickly adapted to his new surroundings.
Manchester United are looking for a striker who can make an immediate impact, and Parrott could be an attractive option for Michael Carrick. His physical strength, intelligent movement, and ability to link up with teammates would add variety to United’s attack.
The former Tottenham Hotspur academy graduate has developed considerably since leaving English football, and a return to the Premier League could give him a chance to establish himself at the highest level.
Manchester United learn Parrott asking price
However, convincing Real Betis to sanction his departure will not be straightforward. The Spanish club secured Parrott’s services from AZ Alkmaar in the summer and have tied him down to a contract until 2031.
His reported €80 million release clause puts Betis in a strong negotiating position, meaning United could face a substantial financial commitment if they pursue a deal.
The Spanish side has little incentive to sell a player they consider central to their attacking plans, especially after his impressive start at the club.
United are expected to continue monitoring his progress before deciding whether to make a formal approach. Although Parrott’s goalscoring record makes him an appealing target, the financial demands could force the Premier League giants to consider alternatives.
With the January window approaching, his future is one to watch as United assess their attacking priorities.
