Nigerian rapper Ice Prince Zamani is set to perform in Kampala for the first time at The Big Meeting, a Singleton-curated event combining live music, dining and social experiences.
Nigerian rapper Ice Prince Zamani is set to make his Uganda debut at the upcoming edition of The Big Meeting, a social event curated by whisky brand The Singleton and scheduled to take place at Thrones in Kampala.
The rapper rose to prominence in the early 2010s with songs such as Oleku, Aboki, Shakara, VIP, Molowo and I Swear, becoming one of the recognisable names in Nigerian hip-hop during a period when the country’s music was gaining popularity across Africa.
Ice Prince, who was born s Panshak Henry Zamani in 1986, belonged to a generation of Nigerian musicians who helped expand the country’s music scene beyond its borders.
Alongside artists such as 2Baba, Wizkid, Banky W and D’banj, he contributed to the growing regional appeal of Nigerian hip-hop and pop, as African music increasingly reached audiences across the continent and internationally.
His career received further recognition when he won the Best International Act: Africa award at the BET Awards in 2013, cementing his place among the prominent African artists of his generation.
His Kampala performance is expected to give audiences an opportunity to revisit songs that helped define that era of African music while introducing his catalogue to younger listeners.
Beyond the musical performances, The Big Meeting seeks to distinguish itself from the conventional nightclub experience by combining dining, DJ sets, entertainment and cocktail-making activities.
Previous editions have brought guests together for food, music and social interaction in a setting designed to extend the experience beyond performances on stage.
Curated by The Singleton, the event reflects the brand’s association with food, music and shared experiences, with guests able to enjoy meals, cocktails and conversations.
Raymond Karama, brand manager for The Singleton, said Ice Prince’s appearance would add to the event, particularly for fans who grew up listening to the rapper.
“The Big Meeting has always been about bringing people together through the things they enjoy; good food, great music and memorable experiences. Having Ice Prince Zamani perform in Uganda for the first time adds another dimension to that experience, particularly for audiences who grew up with his music," Karama said.
"For us, it is about creating moments people can connect with and remember long after the day is over. That is what The Singleton is about: savouring the moment and enjoying the experience in good company."
