The New England Patriots will take on the Chicago Bears Thursday night in what's expected to be one of the most exciting games on Week 7's NFL slate.
The Bears look like one of the better teams in the NFL, and with star quarterbacks Caleb Williams and Drake Maye going head-to-head, NFL fans will get to see two of the best young quarterbacks in the world.
This will also be a reunion for new Patriots safety Kevin Byard, who spent the last two seasons in Chicago. Byard, 33, has played for the Tennessee Titans, Philadelphia Eagles, Bears, and now the Patriots.
He's been a strong contributor wherever he's been, starting every game during his two seasons in Chicago.
Speaking to reporters before the contest on Thursday Night Football, he said he's doing everything he can to ensure New England has the tools it needs to understand Chicago's playbook, personnel, and everything in between.
“I’m giving the coaches and the players as much as I can, you know what I mean?” Byard said, H/T PFT. “Obviously, I am not there anymore, and I don’t have all my notes and stuff like that. But as far as personnel, anything I can kind of remember.”
While Byard admitted that playbooks and other decisions can change, it's at least a promising sign that he's familiar with a couple of players on that roster.
Even if he can take away a play or two from the Bears' star quarterback, that could be the reason New England wins this game. It'll be interesting to see what type of impact he has, but hopefully it's something.
