- Kenyan forex influencers such as King Tizian, Kenyan Prince and Sammy Boy are gaining attention for flaunting cash, luxury cars and lavish lifestyles
- They are echoing the flashy image once associated with musicians like Prezzo and Jaguar, and social media has made it easier to showcase wealth
- But questions remain about whether the fortunes displayed online reflect genuine trading success or carefully curated content
Way back, musicians were the undisputed kings of flashy wealth.

Prezzo rolled in with heavy chains and the kind of swagger that made young men dream of rap careers. Notably, he was the first Kenyan artiste to land for a show in a chopper.
Are forex traders the new showmen?
Jaguar flaunted luxury cars, while KRG The Don later pushed the image further, flaunting M-Pesa statements in the tens of millions, Range Rovers, and claims of nightclubs worth hundreds of millions.

Khaligraph Jones posted collections of Chryslers, Lexuses and Range Rovers. These artistes did not just make music; they made the lifestyle look reachable if you could land a hit, a show, or a brand deal. For years that was the script.
The script has changed.
On TikTok and Instagram, the same rooms and streets now fill with young men filming stacks of cash, luxury cars, and green-lit trading screens.
King Tizian, Kenyan Prince and Sammy Boy have become the new faces of luxury living.
Tizian’s path is the kind of story that travels fast. The former Nakuru boda-boda rider built a TikTok following with live sessions that, at their peak, reportedly pulled in as much as KSh 800,000 in gifts.
After public setbacks and claims of going broke, he switched to forex and recently posted videos of himself dancing with thick bundles of notes.
The message was simple: the people who laughed are now watching him “ball.”
Raymond Omosa, known as Kenyan Prince, has been more consistent with the spectacle. He has spoken about spending KSh 300,000 to 500,000 on ordinary days and more on nights out.
He has shown app balances in the tens of millions, claimed a Lamborghini Urus at KSh 64.5 million, and posted Dubai shopping trips that ran past a million shillings.
Sammy Boy, real name Samwel Ondieki, runs SBK Forex and talks about personal profits above $2 million plus hundreds of mentored students.
He has displayed high-end cars, yet he has also described losing roughly KSh 18 million in one blow.
The lifestyle looks close to what musicians once projected—luxury cars, cash, foreign trips, expensive nights.
The difference is how easily it is produced and distributed. A musician still needs songs, shows and audiences. A trader-influencer needs a phone, a backdrop and a chart that can be filmed.
TikTok and Instagram turn the car into content, the trip into proof, and the screenshot into a sales funnel for signals, courses or affiliate links. Followers see the wins far more often than the losses.
That visibility has drawn pushback. Comedian Flaqo and others have made skits about the flashy claims.
Are forex traders legitimate?
When an American professional trader named Max Anthony shared a clip of Kenyan Prince and friends jumping in front of a rising chart, many read it as quiet doubt.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations and the Capital Markets Authority have issued repeated warnings about fabricated dashboards, hired cars, unlicensed platforms and schemes that sell the dream of easy wealth.
Musicians have not disappeared. Streaming is up—Kenyans spent more than 180 million hours on Spotify in 2025, with local artists dominating charts—and live shows are recovering. Top acts can still charge hundreds of thousands to low millions per performance. For most artistes, though, the money arrives more slowly.
On whether forex traders have truly replaced musicians as the new kings of wealth, the more careful voices push back against the optics.
Larry Mutuma, a publicist, has long stressed that the public image and the actual work are not the same thing. Reflecting on the shift, he has said:
“People see the cars and the cash and think the game has changed overnight. What has really changed is the camera. Real trading is still slow, still risky, and still full of accounts that blow up when someone skips the basics. The musicians had to build something people wanted to hear. Some of these traders are building something people want to watch.
That is not the same as building a business that lasts. If the money is only coming from selling the lifestyle, the lifestyle will end the moment the audience gets bored or the regulator starts asking questions.”
The new faces keep drawing crowds because the content is immediate and aspirational.
Whether the fortunes behind the posts prove more durable than the old music-industry flash that Prezzo and his peers once owned remains the part most followers never get to film.
