Ryad Mezzour has retained his position in Morocco’s government, with an expanded portfolio covering industry, trade, investment and economic inclusion following his appointment by King Mohammed VI on Friday, October 16.
Born in Rabat on May 16, 1971, Mezzour graduated from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH Zurich) in 1996.
He began his professional career in Switzerland as a research and development engineer before returning to Morocco, where he held management positions at several companies.
Between 2012 and 2015, Mezzour served as vice president of the Green Economy Commission at the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM).
He has served as minister of industry and trade since October 2021, retaining the position through the transition from Aziz Akhannouch’s government to Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri’s new administration.
His expanded responsibilities now bring investment and economic inclusion under the same ministerial portfolio.
Mezzour is married and has two children.
