A Tahsildar and a private Bhu Bharathi operator were caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in connection with an ₹8,000 bribery case involving the registration of agricultural land in Rajanna Sircilla district on Thursday (October 15).
The accused were identified as Tahsildar-cum-joint Sub-Registrar of Vemulawada Rural mandal Md. Abubakar and private Bhu Bharathi operator working at the tahsildar’s office Sankasala Anil Kumar.
According to the ACB, Abubakar demanded ₹8,000 from the complainant to facilitate the registration of a gift deed transferring agricultural land belonging to the complainant’s aunt into the name of the complainant’s father.
Acting on a complaint, officials of the ACB’s Karimnagar Range laid a trap and caught the Tahsildar after the bribe was accepted through Anil Kumar.
The bribe amount of ₹8,000 was recovered from the possession of the private operator at his instance.
The ACB said the Tahsildar had misused his official position to obtain an undue advantage for carrying out his official duties. Both accused are being produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases in Karimnagar for judicial remand.
The case is under investigation, and the complainant’s identity has been withheld due to security reasons.
