The vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has expressed appreciation to supporters who turned out in large numbers to welcome him to Rogo Town in Kano State.
Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State, disclosed the development in a post on his official X account after passing through the town on his way from Kaduna.
Supporters of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, recognised by their signature red caps, were seen welcoming the former governor.
In his reaction, Kwankwaso thanked the crowd for the reception, describing the supporters as vibrant and enthusiastic.
“Passed through Rogo Town today on my way from Kaduna and was met by a vibrant, enthusiastic crowd of supporters.
“Deeply grateful for their warm hospitality and support.
“Kwankwasiyya Amana!” he wrote.

In a related development, Kwankwaso has criticised the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) over what he described as unnecessary attacks on him and the NDC’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
The former Kano governor urged the ADC campaign team to focus on responding to allegations reportedly levelled against its presidential candidate by Vice-President Kashim Shettima rather than targeting the NDC leadership.
In a statement published on his X account on Sunday, Kwankwaso faulted the ADC campaign’s attempts to portray the NDC presidential ticket as working in the interest of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He also accused the ADC campaign of trying to create the impression that the NDC would withdraw from the 2027 presidential election at the last minute in support of another candidate.
Kwankwaso maintained that the NDC remained committed to contesting the election and would not step down for the ADC or any other political party.
NDC Rules Out Withdrawal From 2027 Presidential Race
According to Kwankwaso, the ADC Presidential Campaign Council should direct its attention towards addressing the allegations against its candidate rather than engaging in attacks on the NDC’s presidential ticket.
“The ADC-PCC would be better served directing its energy toward rebutting the serious allegations levelled against their candidate by the Vice President, His Excellency Kashim Shettima, instead of targeting me and His Excellency Peter Obi,” he said.
The NDC vice-presidential candidate also warned that claims suggesting his party would withdraw from the presidential contest could be used to mislead its supporters as election day approaches.
He insisted that the party would remain in the race, rejecting suggestions that it would abandon its presidential ambition in favour of the ADC.
