KUALA LUMPUR: Newlywed Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman (Muda-Muar) was the subject of light-hearted teasing in the Dewan Rakyat today, just three days after marrying singer-actress Bella Astillah.
Mohd Sany Hamzan (PH-Hulu Langat) jokingly called him a "pengantin kedekut" (stingy newlywed) when Syed Saddiq appeared reluctant to give way to an interjection during the 2027 Budget debate.
The exchange took place as the former youth and sports minister was highlighting the impact of transboundary haze on schoolchildren, particularly those from low-income families.
Syed Saddiq apologised and asked to finish his remarks on the haze before allowing further interruptions.
The 33-year-old married Bella, 32, on Saturday in a ceremony at Menara Merdeka Maybank in Kuala Lumpur.
