The Chicago Bulls selected North Carolina Tar Heels legend Caleb Wilson with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2026 draft.
After going through the motions in preseason, Wilson was quickly humbled in his NBA debut.
It's not like his performance singlehandedly cost the Bulls the game, far from it, as Chicago lost by 43 points to the Toronto Raptors.
The Raptors held Wilson to just 7/21 from the field, and while he scored 16 points, he turned the ball over nine times.
A couple of nights later, he rebounded as part of the Bulls' 132-125 win over the Milwaukee Brewers.
There's nothing quite like the Wisconsin sports vs. Chicago rivalries, and while the Bulls vs. Bucks isn't to the degree of the Milwaukee Brewers vs. Chicago Cubs or Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears, this was still a huge rebound performance from the first-round pick in only his second career NBA game.
Wilson sets new career high
It'll be interesting to see how many times he sets a new career high before he settles in, but it only took 48 hours before he crushed the 16-point performance he had in his debut.
After shooting 33.3% from the field, the Bulls made sure to adjust things with Wilson as he shot the ball seven fewer times against the Bucks.
He ended up making the same number of field goals, and this time around, he was 5/6 from the charity stripe.
In his NBA debut, Wilson was just 1/2 from the free-throw line.
The Bulls improved to 1-1 thanks to a 21-point performance from Wilson in a game where he turned the ball over six fewer times than he did in his debut.
The former Tar Heel made double the number of three-pointers than he did in the season opener on two fewer shots, and he did all of this in just one extra minute played.
Better numbers across the board
Chicago had him on the floor for 33 minutes against the Bucks in a game that saw him record his first career assist.
Wilson had three steals in his debut, and he may have only had one against Milwaukee, but he recorded six rebounds, two blocks, and the aforementioned assist in addition to his 21 points.
It's clear just how much Wilson improved from game one to game two, and he adjusted to the physicality of the league by only finishing with two fouls instead of the four he had against the Raptors.
The Bulls have their first back-to-back of the season just three games in as they prepare for their home opener on Saturday, Oct. 24 against the Washington Wizards.
