Dozens of firefighters have tackled a large blaze at an industrial site in east London.
Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters battled the flames in Kemp Road, Dagenham.
London Fire Brigade said the fire was within an industrial unit containing tyres, and that a “significant area” was damaged.
Local residents were urged to keep their doors and windows shut due to heavy smoke. Firefighters will remain at the scene for the next few hours to dampen down the area.
The brigade was called shortly before 10pm and sent fire crews from Dagenham, Ilford, Romford, Hornchurch and surrounding fire stations to the scene. The fire was under control by shortly after 11.30pm, and firefighters remained at the scene for a further few hours to dampen down the area.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
