(ANSA) - ROME, 14 OTT - Pope Leo XIV's post-operative recovery is proceeding normally after he had the lower part of his right lung removed to remove a malign tumour, the Vatican said Wednesday.
"This morning, the Holy Father underwent the blood tests and chest X-ray scheduled following the surgery. The results confirm a normal post-operative course: the readings are within the normal range for the type of procedure performed," said a medical bulletin released by the Vatican.
It added that Leo had got out of bed, eaten and done respiratory therapy.
"The Holy Father has undergone respiratory physiotherapy and has started walking around his room. He has resumed a regular diet, having both breakfast and lunch. His recovery is proceeding as expected."
"The pope is doing well and is in good spirits," Vatican Press Office Director Matteo Bruni told reporters while presenting the medical bulletin.
