- New Sommerschield premises offer offices, meeting rooms and a conference room for more than 100 people, while opening their doors to initiatives by entrepreneurs and artists.
CoWork Lab inaugurated a new business centre in Sommerschield on Tuesday, 13 October, bringing its network to seven locations in Maputo. The opening coincides with the company’s 14th anniversary in Mozambique and expands its range of workspace solutions for entrepreneurs, small and medium-sized enterprises and professionals.
Located at Rua 1307, No. 150, the new centre offers private offices, meeting rooms, a conference room with capacity for more than 100 people, work and social areas, and virtual office services. Facilities include reception, internet, cleaning, 24-hour security, water, electricity and a copy centre.
The inauguration brought together around 180 guests, including businesspeople, clients, partners and institutional representatives. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was conducted by Mahomed Mussá, Chair of TMCEL’s Management Board, and Pedro Ferreira, Managing Director of CoWork Lab, followed by a tour of the premises.

“Fourteen years ago, we opened a small space with a simple idea: to give entrepreneurs a place to start. Today, seeing around 180 people gathered in this new centre shows how much that idea has grown alongside our clients and partners,” said Pedro Ferreira.
In addition to business activities, the centre aims to host community initiatives, setting aside dates and spaces for entrepreneurs and artists to present their work. This connection with artistic creation begins with the photographic exhibition Kintsugi: Where the Cracks Become Light, by Patrícia Costa, presented during the inauguration.

For Pedro Ferreira, “this new centre presents itself as a space to work, create and collaborate”. “We want it to be a starting point for new businesses and a showcase for Mozambique’s talent. Here, every connection counts,” he stressed.
The new business centre occupies a building that housed a training institute between 1991 and 2018. The original inauguration plaque has been preserved as a tribute to the history of the premises.
