During a recent appearance on "I On The Hawks," Iowa head women's basketball coach Jan Jensen discussed the value and impact of the team's two scrimmages against Oklahoma State and Lindenwood.
Per On3's Talia Goodman, Iowa won its scrimmage against Oklahoma State last weekend, 93-86. Goodman reported that Georgia transfer guard Dani Carnegie scored 31 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, dished out six assists, and recorded three steals.
First-year forward McKenna Woliczko scored 19 points, and third-year center Ava Heiden added 12 points, seven rebounds, and three steals.
"Those private scrimmages are really valuable," Jensen said. "I really find value in at least one. We're still doing two. We're playing Lindenwood next weekend. But it's just nice because there's none of the noise. There's nobody's opinion. There's you and the deal you make with the opposing team. There's no sharing of the film. You like to think that they don't pass along the scouting report because we're both trying to see where we are against another kind of common type of opponent."
A major thanks again to Jan Jensen (@goiowa) for spending 40+ minutes with us tonight at PinSocial Tiffin.

Jensen shared some of what stood out from Iowa's opening scrimmage against Oklahoma State.
"It was a really pretty well-matched game, goes back and forth, but we were able to see a lot of the things we were hoping we'd see. Dani Carnegie certainly had a really nice game. She scored a lot and had some good rebounds. She's a pretty solid guard. I thought Amari Whiting did some really nice things. You know, Ava (Heiden) was going against Audi Crooks. You know, that's another great post player. So Ava did well, but when you play against another big body, Ava is going to play a little differently than you do if you're playing a post that's more similar to her.
"So I think we just learned a lot. We grew a lot and got a lot to work on. Lots to work on. But it was also nice to have a really positive feeling after that game and know that we did a lot of good things."
Iowa's exhibition matchup against Maryville will take place at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Thursday, Oct. 29, with tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m. CT, and the game will be streamed on B1G+.
