Brock Purdy has officially entered NFL history. He just overtook Lamar Jackson as the league’s all-time career passer rating leader. He did it after reaching the required 1,500-pass attempt threshold during the San Francisco 49ers’ Week 6 Monday Night Football victory over the Washington Commanders. Purdy now owns a career passer rating of 105.6. He surpassed Jackson’s 102.7 and put himself ahead of an elite group that includes Aaron Rodgers (101.8), Joe Burrow (101.3), and Patrick Mahomes (100.8).
Through 1,524 career attempts, Purdy has completed 1,038 passes for 13,145 yards, 98 touchdowns, and just 39 interceptions. The milestone adds another remarkable chapter to the quarterback’s rise from the final selection of the 2022 NFL Draft to the leader of an undefeated San Francisco team. His efficiency has also strengthened the argument that his success extends beyond Kyle Shanahan’s offensive system. Purdy has consistently delivered accurate throws and protected the football. He has made decisive reads even as injuries have forced the 49ers to adjust their supporting cast. His latest achievement came in a 23-17 win over Washington that kept San Francisco unbeaten at 6-0.
Purdy has been outstanding throughout the 2026 season. He has thrown 14 touchdown passes against two interceptions while posting a passer rating above 118 entering Week 6. With injuries affecting Mike Evans, Christian Kirk, and Deebo Samuel, he has remained the stabilizing force in Shanahan’s offense. They have leaned on precise timing and dependable connections with Christian McCaffrey and George Kittle. Now, with the career passer rating record officially his, Purdy has another compelling argument in the early MVP conversation. Maintaining that standard over a full season remains the challenge, but his efficiency is becoming increasingly difficult to dismiss.
