The Makerere University Muslim Students Association programme on Salam TV explored the Islamic teachings of knowing Allah, understanding Islam and following Prophet Muhammad as foundations of Muslim faith and practice.
The Makerere University Muslim Students Association (MUMSA) Daawa Show on Salam TV explored three fundamental Islamic principles during a broadcast on Saturday, October 24, 2026, focusing on knowing Allah, understanding Islam and knowing Prophet Muhammad.
Hosted by Lubulwa Saadi and Naluwu Fatumah, the programme explained why every Muslim, male or female, should understand these three principles as a foundation for faith and worship.
Addressing the question of who the Lord is, the presenters explained that Allah is the Creator and Sustainer of all creation and the only one worthy of worship.
They cited Surah Al-Fatihah, verse 2, which states: “Praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all creation.”
The presenters said Allah can be known through His signs and creation, including the night, day, sun, moon, heavens and earth.
They referred to the Quran, Surah Fussilat, verse 37, which identifies the night, day, sun and moon as signs of Allah and instructs believers not to prostrate to the sun or moon, but to worship Allah, who created them.
They also cited Surah Al-A'raf, verse 54, which describes Allah as the Creator of the heavens and the earth in six days and explains that the sun, moon and stars are subject to His command.
On the second principle, knowing one's religion, the programme explained that Islam entails submitting to Allah through monotheism, obeying Him and rejecting the worship of other deities.
The presenters also outlined the three levels of religion: Islam, Iman, meaning faith, and Ihsan, meaning excellence in worship and conduct.
They referenced the definition of Islam associated with Islamic scholar Ibn Taymiyyah, emphasising submission to Allah and devotion to Him.
The third principle concerned knowing Prophet Muhammad, whom the presenters identified as Muhammad, son of Abdullah, son of Abdul Muttalib, son of Hashim, from the Quraysh tribe of Arabia. They traced his ancestry to Prophet Ismail, son of Prophet Ibrahim, whom Muslims recognise as a close servant and prophet of Allah.
The programme concluded by citing Surah Ali 'Imran, verse 31, which instructs the Prophet to tell believers that if they love Allah, they should follow him, and Allah will love them and forgive their sins.
The verse reinforces the Islamic teaching that following Prophet Muhammad is central to demonstrating love for Allah and practising the faith.
Through the discussion, the MUMSA Daawa Show sought to explain key Islamic beliefs and encourage Muslims to deepen their understanding of their Lord, religion and Prophet.
