Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ family have apparently denied reports the jailed music mogul was involved in a violent confrontation with a notorious Jamaican drug lord, and are said to have insisted claims about a prison fight are “completely false”.
The 56-year-old rapper and former record executive was taken to hospital on Saturday (10.10.26) after suffering a head injury while serving a 50-month sentence at the federal prison complex at Fort Dix, New Jersey.
The incident prompted conflicting accounts about how he was injured, including a report alleging an altercation with convicted Jamaican drug trafficker Christopher ‘Dudus’ Coke, 57, which has since been denied by both a family source and the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Speaking on Thursday’s (15.10.26) edition of The Breakfast Club, entertainment journalist Loren LoRosa said she had
“ spoke to a family member of” Combs’.
Loren explained that the relative insisted “there was not a fight at all”, contradicting allegations published by TMZ about the circumstances surrounding the injury.
The dispute emerged after Page Six reported on Tuesday (13.10.26) Combs had struck his head on a bunk bed while in custody.
TMZ subsequently alleged the injury was connected to a confrontation with Coke, who has been imprisoned in the United States for drug trafficking and racketeering offences.
Loren challenged the account, explaining Combs is “guarded” when outside the prison’s Special Housing Unit, commonly known as SHU.
She also said the two prisoners were housed on “completely different sides” of the facility, questioning how the alleged confrontation could have occurred during a daily recreation period.
Although the family member could not establish precisely what caused Combs’ injury, Loren said relatives were “not 100 percent certain what” had happened.
However, they maintained “it definitely wasn’t anything crazy”.
Loren also confirmed Combs had returned to the prison after receiving medical attention.
She said he “was brought right back to jail”, where he “is currently sitting right now”.
The journalist added Combs’ relatives were concerned about how details of his medical treatment had become public.
She said: “No one should know he was taken to the hospital.”
Loren continued: “They don’t know where this [information] came from.”
She added: “But they want to clear it up.”
The journalist did not identify the family member who had provided the alleged account.
Combs is the father of seven children and received public support from several of them, as well as his mother, Janice Combs, during his federal criminal trial in 2025.
His legal proceedings followed a series of allegations against the music executive, whose career included founding Bad Boy Records and working with some of the biggest names in American hip-hop.
During Thursday’s radio discussion, presenter Charlamagne Tha God suggested the publicity surrounding the alleged incident might have originated from someone connected to Combs.
He speculated “one of his people put this story out” and “amplified” it to suggest the rapper was “not safe” in prison.
Charlamagne also questioned why Combs’ incarceration had continued to attract public attention following his conviction.
He said: “If I was Diddy, I’d just be trying to be as quiet as possible, do my bid and come home.”
Combs was convicted in 2025 on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution and subsequently sentenced to 50 months in federal custody.
His representatives have previously declined to confirm the alleged confrontation, telling Page Six they had “no way of independently verifying” the reports.
They said their principal “concern is for Sean’s health and well-being”.
A representative of the Federal Bureau of Prisons also rejected the allegation on Wednesday (14.10.26), telling Page Six the reported confrontation “did not happen”.
Combs, whose musical career includes the hits I'll Be Missing You, Bad Boy for Life and Coming Home, rose to prominence during the 1990s through his work as a rapper, producer and record label executive.
He helped establish the careers of artists including the Notorious B.I.G. and Faith Evans, while his own recordings brought him commercial success and Grammy Awards.
Combs also developed business interests in fashion, television and beverages, building a high-profile entertainment empire before the criminal proceedings that led to his imprisonment.
According to the reported prison timetable, Combs is currently scheduled for release on 2 March 2028, two months later than a previously listed date.
The revised date reportedly followed alleged disciplinary violations involving fights and telephone use during his incarceration.
