Prince William has promised to watch Karan Johar’s Bollywood classic Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham after meeting the filmmaker in London. The two discussed their connection with the Earthshot Prize, which promotes solutions to environmental challenges. William praised Johar’s efforts to help the initiative gain recognition in India. He also described the filmmaker as an icon who remained modest despite his success.
Speaking about their meeting, William said Johar had been helpful in supporting the Earthshot Prize’s work in India. Their conversation later turned to Bollywood when a BBC Asian Network journalist asked whether the prince had watched any of Johar’s films. William admitted he had not seen any yet. However, he expressed interest in exploring the filmmaker’s work in the future.

“I’m sure as time goes on, he’ll introduce some more films to me,” William said. The journalist then recommended Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, widely known as K3G. They encouraged the prince to tell Johar he planned to watch the film when they next met. William agreed, saying he would mention the recommendation to the filmmaker.
Released in 2001, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham remains one of Johar’s most recognised films. The family drama features a star-studded cast, including Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor Khan. Its story explores family relationships, emotional conflicts and reconciliation. William’s promise has added an unexpected royal connection to the enduring Bollywood favourite.
