Leadership of Women In Philanthropy Ghana with female CSO ecosystem members
The 4th edition of the African Women in Philanthropy Conference is set to bring together women leaders and key stakeholders to explore ways to strengthen local philanthropy and social investment in Ghana.
The conference, scheduled for October 26, 2026, at the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER) Conference venue in Accra, is being held under the theme “Women Leading the Future of Local Philanthropy and Social Investment.”
It will provide a platform for participants to exchange ideas, forge strategic partnerships and identify innovative approaches to mobilising local resources for sustainable development.
The event is being organised by Ghana Philanthropy Week and Women in Philanthropy Ghana (WiP Ghana), in partnership with Philanthropy Ghana, as part of efforts to promote locally driven development and expand the role of women in philanthropy.
Discussions at the conference will focus on six thematic areas, including women’s leadership in local philanthropy and community giving; social investment and innovative finance; women’s leadership for inclusive and sustainable development; inspiring the next generation of women philanthropists; artificial intelligence, digital innovation and the future of women’s philanthropy; and mobilising partnerships for Ghana’s philanthropy and social investment sector.
Through these discussions, participants are expected to examine strategies for strengthening local resource mobilisation, promoting innovative financing mechanisms, harnessing technology for social impact and building partnerships to support sustainable development.
The conference will also highlight opportunities for young women to develop their leadership skills and play a greater role in philanthropy, social entrepreneurship and social investment.
The event will feature opening remarks by the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, while Dr. Nana Asantewa Afadzinu, Executive Director of the West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI), will deliver the keynote address.
Interactive sessions and technical masterclasses will also be facilitated by a range of experts, including Rabih Chehade, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Slangit; Hamdiya Ismaila of Savana Impact Advisory; Jacqueline Asiimwe, Chief Executive Officer of CivSource Africa; Jemimah Boatemaah Osei, Deputy Director at the Ministry of Education; Elizabeth Zionita Dzah of Masana Wa Afrika; and Kezia Asiedua Sanie of For The Future Ghana.
The gathering comes amid growing calls for Ghana to strengthen domestic resource mobilisation and complement external development assistance with locally driven initiatives capable of addressing community needs.
By bringing together women leaders, development practitioners and other stakeholders, the conference seeks to encourage greater collaboration as well as promote approaches that empower local organisations and communities to take a leading role in financing and implementing development initiatives.
Organisers believe that expanding women’s participation in philanthropy and social investment can help unlock local resources, support inclusive growth and create sustainable solutions to development challenges.
Participation in the conference is open to interested stakeholders, who can register through the conference registration link: https://tinyurl.com/awip26.
The conference forms part of Ghana Philanthropy Week 2026, scheduled to run from October 26 to 31 under the theme “Beyond Aid: Financing Ghana’s Future through Local Philanthropy and Social Investment.”
The wider initiative seeks to advance conversations on how domestic giving, strategic partnerships and social investment can contribute to Ghana’s long-term development.
