Did Commanders’ Dan Quinn have a wild brain fart during MNF vs. 49ers? appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Dan Quinn said the Washington Commanders had moved on after Jayden Daniels brutal brain fart in their 27-27 tie with the New York Giants. However, it seems the Commanders’ head coach isn’t immune to having the odd brain fart himself.
With the Commanders down 13-3 in the red zone during their Monday Night Football clash with the San Francisco 49ers, Daniels casually threw the ball away on 4th down, giving the Niners the ball.

The camera then went to Quinn, who turned around and looked to be asking one of his coaches whether the play was 4th down. He then seemingly let out an expletive in frustration as Daniels walked by him.
Based on Daniels’ nonchalance to throw the ball away on 4th down, it’s possible that the Commanders team did not quite know that it was already fourth down. If so, it would have been a major blunder as they missed a chance to knock in a field goal instead of going for it.
Washington could have used those extra three points as the Niners tacked on another touchdown to head into halftime leading 20-3.
The Commanders already suffered a big blow with top receiver Terry McLaurin carted out of the game due a knee injury. Meanwhile, fellow receiver Stefon Diggs may also be banged up after taking a big hit to his right hand.
With the Commanders in the midst of another disappointing start and last place in the NFC East, Dan Quinn can’t afford to make too many more mistakes, or else he might find himself out of a job soon.
