KARACHI, Oct 16 (APP): Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi held a meeting with office-bearers of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) at his office to review measures for the implementation of the Yellow Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.
The Commissioner said the Sindh government was taking all possible measures to develop industrial areas and rehabilitate infrastructure. He noted that Korangi Road was a key access route serving one of the city’s largest industrial zones.
He said the Yellow Line project would contribute to the development of the industrial areas of Korangi and Landhi, improve transportation and commuting facilities for industries, and benefit residents of Korangi. He added that the government’s efforts to improve this important city thoroughfare would help address the area’s transportation needs.
The meeting was attended by Yellow Line Project Director Kamal Hakeem, Deputy Commissioner Korangi Masood Bhutto, industrialists from Korangi and Landhi, and KATI office-bearers.
Detailed discussions were held with KATI representatives to assess the requirements of industrial units during the implementation of the Yellow Line BRT project. It was decided that the needs of industrialists would be taken into account throughout the project’s execution.
The meeting agreed to conduct a physical survey to assess various requirements, including access to and exit from industrial units located along individual roads, traffic management issues, water supply to industries, and other essential utility services.
A committee comprising Yellow Line Project officials and other relevant officers was formed under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Korangi Masood Bhutto. The committee was directed to conduct an on-ground assessment and carry out a comprehensive survey of the requirements identified by the association.
The survey will examine each industrial unit individually, including its entry and exit points and the availability and provision of utility services. The committee was also instructed to include proposals for alternative routes to be used before construction work begins.
