A massive earthquake of magnitude 7 has struck Tibet today.
China's Earthquake Networks Centre (CENC) said the quake struck at around 10.30pm local time (2.30pm UK time).
Data indicated the epicentre was in a high-altitude county in Nagqu, northern Tibet, at a depth of 6.21 miles.
It struck around 250 miles away from the Tibetan capital of Lhasa. CENC said the tremor was felt in the local area.
The latest quake comes just a few months after Tibet and neighbouring Nepal suffered powerful and devastating floods.
Following a series of flash floods and debris flows, at least 43 people died and 519 people went missing in Tibet.
Nepal saw at least 1,455 people die and 5,285 people go missing.
