Saquon Barkley has weighed in on the controversy surrounding Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and why he was allowed to play in London despite the team knowing he had a blood clot.
During a media scrum, Barkley shared his displeasure at how the narrative has been to pit Hurts against the team despite the fact that there had been a lot of inaccurate information going around about the situation.
“There’s a lot of information that was put out. Some true, some false. A lot false, to be completely honest. But the thing I made of it, it sucks that the first thing people try to make it was an Eagles vs. Jalen thing,” Barkley said.

Barkley went on to praise Hurts as a person and wished him a speedy recovery.
It’s unclear which information Barkley was referring to as false. But based on the timeline of events known to the public from insider reports, the Eagles discovered Jalen Hurts had a blood clot in his calf after they had flown off to London. But they still cleared him to play despite the fact that he did not get much sleep. Doctors then discovered that Hurts had blood clots in his lungs, so he will likely miss the rest of the season.
With Hurts out and the Eagles at 2-4, there is now speculation of a potential fire sale that could include Barkley. If that does come to pass, it would be a disappointing way to break up a backfield that led the Eagles to a Super Bowl title just a few seasons ago.
