Public order in France "allows rioters to destroy shops and public buildings," says MEP Jean-Marc Germain, from the Socialists & Democrats group. He comments on the recent protests and violence beleaguering France last weekend, calling the scenes witnessed a "big failure of government."
However, he does not believe Emmanuel Macron ought to resign, stating that "it's elections that have to solve this issue," though believes that resolving issues with law and order are "the condition" for a good election process.
France saw a wave of protests and violence last weekend, beginning with a student protest over conditions. There is slated to be new protests this upcoming weekend, with a general strike called for by the trade unions on November 5th.
