The highly-coveted Floyd of Rosedale is on the line as No. 14 Iowa (5-1, 2-1 Big Ten) travels North to take on Minnesota (4-2, 2-1 Big Ten).
This will be the 120th all-time meeting between the Hawkeyes and Gophers. Minnesota leads the series, but Iowa has dominated recently. Kirk Ferentz’s team has won 10 of the last 11 meetings in the series, 20 of the past 25, and Iowa hasn't lost in Minneapolis since 2014.
PJ Fleck’s Gophers are hoping to change the narrative on Saturday. Sitting at 4-2, they’re looking to get back on track after a disappointing loss to Purdue. Iowa is 5-1 and hoping to keep College Football Playoff hopes alive with another win.
Will the Hawkeyes pick up a massive road win? Or will the Gophers spoil their border rival's season? Here are the experts’ predictions for Iowa vs. Minnesota.
Iowa vs. Minnesota expert predictions
Bleacher Report: Iowa 20, Minnesota 17. David Kenyon of Bleacher Report is rolling with the Hawkeyes to grab a tight road victory on Saturday.
CBS Sports: Both experts at CBS Sports picked Iowa to win this game. Chris Hummer has them winning 20-13, while Brad Crawford has them winning 24-14. Here's some of what Hummer had to say about the matchup:
"I'd expect this matchup to be a good 'ol Big Ten fistfight," Hummer said. "These are two of the best pass-blocking offensive lines in the Big Ten -- Minnesota's run blocking leaves a lot to be desired -- and teams that don't make a ton of mistakes with ball control football. The difference to me in this matchup is Minnesota might have to be one-dimensional with the pass -- the Hawkeyes have a huge advantage defensively against the run -- while Iowa, fresh off a bye, has the elite run game (third nationally in yards per carry) to control the game."
Athlon Sports: All three experts at Athlon Sports picked Iowa to take home the Floyd of Rosedale on Saturday.
Fox Sports: All three experts at Fox Sports also picked Iowa to win. Here's what RJ Young, Laken Litman, and Ben Portnoy had to say about the game:
Young: IowaThe Hawkeyes play a better version of smashmouth football offensively than the Golden Gophers do.
Litman: IowaThe Hawkeyes continue their journey to a CFP berth in what's become a wide open Big Ten.
Portnoy: IowaThe Hawkeyes may have a quarterback decision to be made between Jeremy Hecklinski and Hank Brown, but they might finally have figured out the offense. Give me Kirk Ferentz's bunch in this one.
