NRBC Bank PLC trained 26 entrepreneurs in Kishoreganj for a month on business operations, management, financial planning, marketing and business expansion.
The closing ceremony and certificate distribution took place at a Kishoreganj hotel yesterday (15 October), while the training began on 17 September, according to the press release.
NRBC Bank organised the programme under Bangladesh Bank's supervision as part of the Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Programme (SICIP), implemented by the Finance Division of the Ministry of Finance and funded by the Asian Development Bank.
The training focused on skills development and strengthening participants' capacity to establish, manage and expand their businesses.
Mohammad Abdul Qaium Khan, deputy managing director and chief operating officer of NRBC Bank, attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest.
Other guests included Md Arifur Rahman, vice-president and head of the bank's Sylhet zone; Ayub Ali, joint director of Bangladesh Bank and deputy director of the training project; and Md Harun-Or-Rashid, head of NRBC Bank's Public Affairs and Relations Department.
ATM Masudul Huq, head of the bank's Kishoreganj branch and coordinator of the training programme, presided over the event.
Mohammad Abdul Qaium Khan said the programme aimed to develop new entrepreneurs and equip them to establish and grow sustainable businesses.
He said NRBC Bank was implementing the initiative in line with the government's and Bangladesh Bank's efforts to create local employment opportunities.
He assured participants that the bank would provide necessary support, including financing, to help them implement their business initiatives.
Ayub Ali, of Bangladesh Bank's SME and Special Programmes Department, said the Kishoreganj training was part of a nationwide initiative to develop skilled entrepreneurs.
He expressed hope that participants would use the knowledge and practical insights gained during the programme to establish themselves successfully in business.
He also highlighted Bangladesh Bank's refinancing facilities, which allow eligible entrepreneurs to access loans at relatively low interest rates and on easier terms.
He added that commercial banks were implementing various support programmes to help achieve the government's target of creating one crore employment opportunities.
Participants said establishing and operating a business involved challenges and uncertainties, and the training helped them better understand potential risks and how to address them.
They expressed their commitment to building successful businesses, creating employment for themselves and other young people, and contributing to Bangladesh's economic growth.
