The Calgary Flames were finally able to put a tally in the win column on Tuesday night.
After opening up the 2026-27 season with five straight losses, the Flames were able to put three past Lukas Dostal and a fourth into an empty net to walk away with a 4-2 victory.
As you would imagine, vibes in the dressing room were extremely high. Not only that, but it also allowed the Flames to unveil some new post-game awards.

Rather than the red jacket fans had become accustomed to seeing, the Flames are now instead handing out a reflective safety vest and a hard hat. Pretty fitting given the amount of construction taking place on a daily basis at their soon-to-be new arena, Scotia Place.
Given that it was the Flames’ first win, it was team captain Mikael Backlund giving out both items. Quite fittingly, he chose to give it to Joel Farabee, who has been their most consistent forward to begin the 2026-27 season.
“F*cking rights, fellas,” Farabee said. “Remember this feeling because it’s coming. We’re going to do this a lot more.”
The Flames will certainly hope Farabee’s words ring true as they look to build on Tuesday’s win and get their season back on track. While one victory doesn’t erase the struggles of the opening week, it gives the group something positive to build on as they look to climb out of the Pacific Division basement.
If Farabee and the Flames have their way, the hard hat and safety vest will be making plenty more appearances this season. After all, a team that has spent the early part of the year digging itself into a hole will need to do plenty of work to climb back out.
