Mining mogul Solomon "MySol" Soka Madibela sat down with MacG on Podcast and Chill to fire back at claims made by his former business associate Benjamin "Benjy" Maponya. The teaser clip for the episode, set to air on Thursday, 15 October 2026 at 3 PM, has already set social media alight after MySol casually revealed that his mining operation pulls in between R240 million and R250 million a month.
"Those figures, you're undermining me. I'm just a small boy. I'm still up and coming," MySol said with a laugh, brushing off the staggering number as if it were loose change.
The business dispute at the heart of it all
The tension between MySol and Maponya centres on their N4 Cluster mining venture at Buffels West. Maponya previously accused MySol of cutting him out of shares and income after the deal was secured, with the fallout allegedly costing Maponya his Hartbeespoort home. MySol subsequently approached the Gauteng High Court for an interdict over certain claims made against him.
In the teaser, MySol pushed back hard against suggestions that Maponya had any meaningful influence over how contracts were awarded.
"He tells the wife that he's my business partner. He cannot influence a big company like Samanko to give opportunities; there's law in this country," he said.
He also responded to people scrutinising how he spends his own money.
"I can, because I can."
The episode, filmed in a studio with a yellow curtain backdrop and the "Chillers Punch" branded microphone front and centre, also features B-roll of an industrial mining facility. MySol alluded to his humble beginnings in the area where he now operates, recalling that his bed and plate once stood where his machinery now works.
