Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi has ordered a crackdown on illegal bus stands and unauthorized bus stops across the city.
The directive came during his visit to 32 Chowk, Shahdara, Lari Adda, and Ravi Road, where he reviewed traffic conditions and instructed officials to take immediate action against illegal bus operations.
The CTO directed traffic officials to register cases against drivers who park buses or pick up and drop off passengers at unauthorized locations. He also warned that sector in-charges and duty officers would face disciplinary action if illegal bus stands were found operating in their areas.
According to the CTO, 31 cases have been registered this year for stopping buses at illegal holding points, while more than 2,700 traffic tickets have been issued in October alone for violations involving unauthorized bus stands and holding points.
He further directed that all bus drivers must have valid Heavy Transport Vehicle (HTV) and Public Service Vehicle (PSV) driving licenses. Drivers operating buses without a PSV license will also face legal action.
The CTO emphasized that illegal bus stands and holding points would not be tolerated, adding that action against those disrupting traffic flow would continue without discrimination.
