The Ministry of Oil has obtained three international ISO certifications covering quality management, information security and information technology service management, following the fulfilment of required standards and the successful completion of audit procedures.
In a press release issued on Sunday, the ministry said the certifications marked a step forward in its institutional development and digital transformation efforts, reaffirming its commitment to applying internationally recognised standards in the management of its operations and services.
The certifications comprise ISO 27001 for Information Security Management Systems, ISO 20000 for Information Technology Service Management Systems, and ISO 9001 for Quality Management Systems. Each covers specific areas of the ministry’s operations and is intended to strengthen management practices, operational performance and service reliability.
ISO 27001 was awarded to the ministry’s Information Systems Center Department for its information security management system. The certification confirms compliance with the standard’s requirements and supports stronger controls and procedures for protecting data and digital systems.
The same department obtained ISO 20000 for its IT service management system. The certification reflects efforts to improve the management of technical services, enhance operational efficiency and strengthen service reliability in line with internationally recognised practices.
The ISO 9001 quality management certification has a broader scope, covering departments responsible for economic affairs, technical affairs, administrative and financial affairs, and information systems. According to the ministry, it is intended to help standardise quality requirements, improve work procedures and enhance the efficiency of operations and services across the departments included in the accreditation.
The ministry said the three certifications represented an important milestone in developing its institutional work system. It added that the accreditations supported its efforts to improve performance, strengthen information security, increase the reliability of digital systems and establish a working environment centred on quality, sustainability and continuous improvement.
The ministry also stressed that the certifications would encourage further development of its institutional processes, improve service quality and promote the adoption of international best practices as part of its ongoing digital transformation efforts.
