GEORGE TOWN: The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry is offering counselling to victims of AI-generated nude images and their families following a case involving female students in Negri Sembilan.
Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said the service was also available to parents who needed support to cope with the emotional distress caused by the incident.
She said the ministry had counsellors through its agencies, including the Social Welfare Department and the National Population and Family Development Board, who could assist victims and their families.
"We want to inform families that if they need counselling, our ministry can help," she told reporters after officiating the 2026 National Breast Cancer Awareness Month celebration at the Waterfront Convention Centre Penang (PWCC).
On Oct 18, media reports said more than 300 female secondary school students in Seremban, Negri Sembilan, were believed to have been victims of AI-powered image manipulation to create nude images.
The compromising images were reportedly circulated among students at the school and allegedly sold through the Telegram messaging application.
The case has raised concerns over the misuse of AI to create fake images that could humiliate victims and undermine their emotional well-being.
