Week 9 of the Florida high school football season around Ocala gets off to another early start this week, with Dunnellon leading the way.
The Tigers put their undefeated record on the line Thursday, Oct. 15, with a winner-take-district showdown at Santa Fe. Dunnellon will have had nearly three weeks between games after an off week, then a postponement of last week's matchup vs. Belleview because of bad weather.
Santa Fe's having its own solid season at 6-1, the only loss to 6A powerhouse Buchholz.
Meanwhile, Forest will try to make it a 2-for-2 week at West Port on Friday. The Wildcats strengthened their playoff hopes with an upset of Oakleaf on Monday in a delayed game. Also in county play, North Marion travels to Belleview.
