The Los Angeles Rams have some soul-searching to do this week after losing 37-34 in overtime to the Buffalo Bills at home on "Monday Night Football" in Week 5.
The Rams, a preseason favorite by many around the league before the season, are 2-3 after the loss to Buffalo.
The Rams had an opportunity to win the game in overtime on its first offensive possession by either scoring a touchdown or converting a field goal after James Cook fumbled on the opening drive of the period for the Bills.

Los Angeles quarterback Matthew Stafford led the offense down the field on an eight-play, 50-yard drive that set up a 48-yard field goal attempt for Harrison Mevis. The field goal was blocked by the Bills, and Buffalo would score a field goal of its own to win the game on the next possession. The kick by Mevis didn't appear on target before the block.
Mevis, who joined the Rams in 2025, went 0 for 2 on field goal attempts in the game, missing a 50-yard attempt in the first quarter.
During his postgame news conference, Rams head coach Sean McVay suggested changes could be coming on special teams. Per ESPN, McVay said he'd be "evaluating everything" this week.
"In the kicking game, especially with our PAT, field goal, not even close to good enough," McVay said. "It cost us the game tonight."
Mevis did make all four of his extra point attempts.
Mevis has made just 55.6% of his field goal attempts this season. He's gone 3 for 6 from a range of 40 to 49 yards (long of 48 yards) and missed his only attempt from 50 yards and beyond. The Rams could bring in competition for Mevis this week and cut him depending on the outcome of a kicking battle.
For a team that has aspirations of winning the Super Bowl, it's important McVay has a kicker he can have confidence in during critical end-of-game scenarios.
