Ekiti Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, will on Friday begin his second term in office, with the All Progressives Congress (APC) describing his re-election as a triumph of performance, empathy, humility and faith.
The APC Publicity Secretary in Ekiti State, Segun Dipe, said in a statement that Oyebanji’s planned inauguration at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion, Ado-Ekiti, on Friday, October 16, marked a historic milestone, as he becomes the first democratically elected governor since the state’s creation in 1996 to secure a second consecutive term.
Dipe attributed the governor’s re-election to his administration’s achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture and economic development.

He noted that the government had completed over 500 kilometres of roads, renovated more than 110 primary healthcare centres and rehabilitated hundreds of public schools.
He also highlighted the administration’s social interventions, including the payment of pension arrears and gratuities, sponsorship of students’ examination fees, distribution of free JAMB forms and youth training in technology-related skills.
According to him, Ekiti’s internally generated revenue rose from N8.7 billion in 2022 to N27.1 billion in 2025, while the state’s economy recorded significant growth, reflecting the impact of reforms and a business-friendly environment.
The APC spokesman said Oyebanji’s inclusive leadership style, humility and commitment to peaceful coexistence had helped unite political stakeholders and strengthen public confidence in his administration.
Dipe added that the governor had pledged to make his second term more impactful by consolidating existing achievements, creating more jobs and improving the welfare of residents.
He expressed confidence that the second term would further advance the state’s development, describing the re-election as an opportunity for Oyebanji to deepen his administration’s commitment to shared prosperity.
