Turkana - People's Party of Kenya (PPK) leader and Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has publicly condemned the government's decision to withdraw security details from Siaya Governor James Orengo and Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, arguing that security should never be used as a political weapon.

Nyoro made the remarks on Sunday during a consecration service at ACK All Saints Nakabosan Church in Turkana South Constituency, Turkana County, an event hosted by the Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Kenya, the Most Rev. Dr Jackson Ole Sapit.
Nyoro speaks out on governors' security
The MP drew a clear line between political disagreement and the withdrawal of state protection, insisting that differing political opinions should not cost any leader their security.

"When you see leaders holding different political opinions, as we have seen with Governor Orengo and Governor Natembeya, we should not withdraw their security simply because they belong to a different political camp. Security should not be used as a tool to punish, intimidate, or silence leaders who hold differing political views," Nyoro said on October 18.
Both Orengo and Natembeya have been vocal critics of the government, and the removal of their security details drew widespread attention and concern from opposition quarters.
Call for Unity and Responsible Leadership
Beyond the security issue, Nyoro used the occasion to urge political leaders across the country to exercise greater caution in their public communications, warning that reckless statements risk inflaming divisions among Kenyans.
"I want to appeal to all leaders, including those who are older and more experienced than us. Please, let us be careful with our words. Those who have been elected to leadership positions occupy important offices, while others aspire to higher positions and others are seeking even lower elective seats. We must all remember that Kenya is more important than any one of us as leaders," he said.
He further called on leaders to stop making remarks that undermine the dignity of the offices they hold or stoke hostility among citizens.
"Let us avoid making statements that divide Kenyans or fuel hostility among our people. We must also refrain from making remarks that undermine the dignity and respect of the offices we hold. As leaders, we have a responsibility to unite the country, promote mutual respect, and uphold the values of our democracy," Nyoro added.
The church service, attended by clergy and guests from across the region, provided Nyoro with a platform to address both governance concerns and the broader state of political discourse in Kenya.
