La Salle, Scituate and Cranston East are your top girls soccer teams in their respective standings entering the final full week of the regular season.
The Rams in Division I, the Spartans in Division II and the Thunderbolts in Division III would collect No. 1 seeds if the season ended today. They can just about touch the first line of the bracket for when the playoffs matchups are revealed in a few short days.
La Salle hosts Smithfield and visits Barrington while attempting to hold off Cumberland, which pinned a lone loss on the Rams earlier this season. Lincoln has surged into third place while North Kingstown, East Greenwich, Mt. Hope, Portsmouth, Barrington, Chariho and Prout all finds themselves at .500 or better.
Scituate welcomes Pilgrim and visits St. Raphael while attempting to improve upon its 13-0-2 mark. The Spartans are in front of Ponaganset, North Smithfield, the Patriots, Burrillville, Toll Gate and the Saints. Pilgrim could shake up the standings a bit with wins over Scituate and the city rival Titans, two matches set for Monday and Wednesday.
Cranston East hosts Mount Pleasant before a Thursday trip to Max Read Field and a date with Pawtucket Co-op. Those are the top two teams in Division III at the moment, with Bay View, Providence Country Day and Davies all in striking distance. The Thunderbolts would lock up a regular season crown with a pair of wins.
We've wrapping up the second month of this 2026 season but would still offer this reminder – this isn't for anything of real value. It won't determine All-State, the Player of the Year at our annual June awards show downtown or your college future. We're just here to highlight your accomplishments in a given week and shed a little light on performers throughout all three divisions.
Who won last week's poll?
Taylor DeVerna was voted Player of the Week among the Oct. 12 nominees, named on 54.4% of the ballots and collecting more than 20,000 votes. She scored in all three matches for Coventry, including a hat trick against North Providence and a goal and two assists in another victory over Middletown.
We need your help
Expect to see your name here and didn't find it? There could be a couple reasons for that. First among them – we need to hear about how your games went every night, and we're asking for some help with that. Our staff would love to be everywhere all at once, but it's simply not possible.
Coaches and athletic administrators – home or away – are asked to contact us with their results every time you play. This is recognition for your players and communities, and we’re happy to offer it. We just need some cooperation, and we hope that’s not too difficult.
We can’t take submissions from parents, family or club coaches. We appreciate your passion and interest, but we’d like to keep this as official as possible.
Please send in game results via email at pjsports@providencejournal.com Monday through Friday from 6-10 p.m., or by phone at (401) 277-7340. Thanks in advance to everyone who will be in contact with us throughout the season.
Our next five nominees are here. Voting in the online poll ends Saturday night. Phone calls, emails and social media contact won’t be considered. Logging into this story and participating through the poll below is your only option.
With that, on to the nominees.
Meet this week's nominees for Girls Soccer Player of the Week

Sofia Coburn, Cumberland
The Clippers were the cardiac kids last week, rallying late to beat Barrington and playing a wild 5-5 draw with Lincoln on Saturday. Coburn helped Cumberland snatch all three points against the Eagles, scoring twice in a 3-2 comeback victory.

Eva Corriveau, North Smithfield
Corriveau netted both goals as the Northmen secured a notable result early in the week – a 2-1 triumph over Ponaganset. That victory against the current No. 2 seed in Division II should give North Smithfield some additional confidence entering the upcoming playoffs.

Danika Denham, Lincoln
Denham netted a pair of early goals as the Lions knocked off North Kingstown, 3-1, and ended a 10-match unbeaten run for the Skippers. The Lions added a 1-0 win over Portsmouth and a frantic 5-5 draw with Cumberland to extend their own lengthy run without a defeat.

Mya Kafalas, Burrillville
Kafalas opened the week with a goal in a 2-1 home victory over Exeter-West Greenwich. She added two goals in a 5-3 victory over Burrillville, a result that helped keep the Broncos in line for a favorable seed in the upcoming Division II playoffs.

Maeve Monaghan, East Greenwich
The Avengers swept all three of their matches last week, and Monaghan helped key that effort. She notched a goal and an assist in that middle victory, a 3-0 blanking of South Kingstown.
