Itanagar, October 16: Roing in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lower Dibang Valley district will receive over ₹1 crore from the District Mineral Fund (DMF) to augment its existing water supply system and provide relief to residents facing a water crisis.

The decision was taken on Friday by the Deputy Commissioner of Lower Dibang Valley and Roing MLA Mutchu Mithi, in consultation with the Executive Engineer of the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department.
The augmentation work is scheduled to begin this winter and is expected to ease the water shortage until the commissioning of the major water supply project, which is currently in the final stages of technical allocation. Once work begins, the project is expected to take two to three years to complete.
Meanwhile, temporary water supply augmentation works at Deopani have already commenced this winter to provide immediate relief to residents.
